The Intricate sculptural Cormorant is made using fine enamelled copper wire and hand knitted on wooden knitting needles. I create a 2D knitted wire pattern that is then sculptured to make a 3D bird body. This is hand sewn with wire. Small seed beads are added for eyes and the legs and feet are sculptured using metal oxidised wire. The out stretched wings are created using black enamelled wire and manipulated to create the illusion of feathers. Each bird is unique and has its own distinct character. Therefore your Cormorant will look slightly different to the picture. Drift wood is sourced locally from the Dorset and Devon beaches and used as plinths for the sculptures.
