The Intricate sculptural Oystercatcher is made using fine enamelled copper wire and hand knitted on wooden knitting needles. I create a 2D knitted wire pattern that is then sculptured to make a 3D bird body. This is hand sewn with wire. Small seed beads are added for eyes and the legs and feet are sculptured using metal oxidised wire and gold enamelled wire. Each bird is unique and has it's own distinct character. Therefore your Oystercatcher will look slightly different to the picture. Drift wood is sourced locally from the Dorset and Devon beaches and used as plinths for the sculptures.
